MOT Deadline Extended by Six Months

In response to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus, the UK Government has announced from 30 March 2020, MOT due for renewal such as any cars, motorcycles and light vans will be extended by six month.

For example: Your vehicle’s MOT was due to expire on 3 April 2020.This will automatically be extended to 3 October 2020. You will need to get your MOT by this date.

The Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps MP, emphasised vehicles that fall under this category to “Keep vehicles in a good state of repair, going on to say: “However, you must still keep your car in a roadworthy condition and garages will remain open if you need repairs”

Please note if your first MOT was due before 30 March 2020 and your vehicle did not pass. Your vehicle will not get an extension to its MOT due date.

The DVSA is also working with the police and insurers to help anyone with a MOT certificate that that expires before 30th March but is unable to get to a test centre due to self-isolating is not penalised.

In accordance with the latest UK Government guidance, we will continue to manage the risk of COVID-19 across the dealership network. With robust safety measures in place, you can be assured that we are 100% committed to keeping our customers and staff safe in every location.

It is vitally important that you are able to visit our dealerships safely, so we have continued to work responsibly in accordance with Government guidance to adhere to the following safety measures:

  • 2 metre floor markings in all our dealerships to help you keep a safe distance from others
  • All our colleagues will wear a face mask / face covering and we have protective screens at all workstations
  • Hand sanitiser are readily available for all customers and colleagues to use. Upon arrival at the dealership, we kindly request that you sanitise your hands thoroughly
  • All desks, workstations and card payment machines are regularly cleaned and sanitised
  • We respectably request that everyone visiting our premises will be required to wear face masks and coverings to protect the safety of our staff and customers.
