The Electric Hatch, Upgraded: Renault Reveals the New Megane E-Tech

When the Renault Megane E-Tech electric first hit the road back in 2022, it was a breath of fresh air for the compact family EV market. Fast forward to today, and the electric landscape is moving faster than ever. To keep its pioneer sharp, Renault has pulled the wraps off a major mid-lifecycle refresh for the Megane E-Tech, bringing a complete design overhaul, clever new battery technology, and an AI-infused cabin.

The core goal of this update? Making the switch to an electric vehicle seamless for first-timers, while packing in more standard kit.

A Sharper, More Planted Stance

You will spot the updates immediately from the front. Aside from the raw headlight clusters, Renault has completely reimagined the Megane’s face for a sportier, wider road presence.

The old side air intakes have been replaced by a striking lighting signature featuring eight checkerboard-patterned, diamond-shaped elements pushed to the outer edges of the bumper. Paired with a gloss-black closed grille and a repositioned logo, the hatch looks visually wider and more intentional. It also stands 20mm taller to accommodate its brand-new battery pack.

Smart Tech: Enter Google Gemini

Renault's standard openR link dual-screen cockpit remains, but the software has received a major brain transplant.

The biggest upgrade is the integration of Google Gemini, bringing natural, conversational AI voice control to the cabin. Drivers can also use a new facial-recognition camera in the windscreen pillar to automatically load their personalized seating positions, media, and driving profiles.

The lineup is now streamlined into two generous trims:

techno: Includes the 12-inch openR display with Google built-in, a built-in heat pump, battery pre-conditioning, and 19-inch alloys.

esprit Alpine: Adds 20-inch wheels, unique grey interior accents, power massaging seats, and a premium Harman Kardon audio system.

By combining sustainable motor manufacturing with cutting-edge AI and faster charging, the refreshed Megane E-Tech firmly cements its position as a top-tier family EV.
