Dacia is competing in the women’s-only Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc, teaming up with three crews to attempt a fifth consecutive victory in the Crossover Category. The ‘Gazelles’ will drive three Dacia Dusters for a nine-day off-road adventure across the desert from Erfoud to Essaouira, in Morocco.
The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc rewards those who can navigate the shortest possible route between checkpoints, but also those who show skill in off-road driving. Dacia has won seven times in the past eleven editions and since 2017, the Dacia Duster has been the undefeated champion in the Crossover Category with an all-female crew from five countries (France, Morocco, Poland, Belgium and Switzerland).
Since its creation in 1990, the Rallye has encouraged true adventuring. With no GPS, the rally raid takes place entirely off-road, plotting a course using nothing but a map and compass. This concept is the only event of its kind in the world. For nine days, the Dacia Duster Gazelles will scale sand-dunes, swerve between rocky outcrops and negotiate camel grass. They will be judged on their ability to find all the check points while covering as little ground as possible. The Dacia Duster is their perfect, trusted companion when it comes to tackling a range of tough terrains.
The Rallye ends on 2nd April in Essaouira, where there will be an awards ceremony and a closing celebration. Good luck, team Dacia!
