Dacia Spring Award

The Dacia Spring has officially been recognised as the electric car that offers a lot for very little, winning the ‘Value Car of the Year’ category at the News UK Motor Awards 2023.

Already Europe’s most affordable new electric car and credited with making electric mobility widely available, the Spring was singled out by News UK Motor judges ahead of its highly-anticipated UK launch in 2024. The winning feedback was provided by renowned motoring journalists from titles such as The Sun, The Times and The Sunday Times.

It’s the second year that Dacia has scooped the coveted accolade, the seven-seat Jogger winning the award in 2022.

The Sun Motors Editor , Rob Gill said: “We’ve been campaigning for Dacia to bring this little car to Britain for three years and now it’s finally coming. Hurrah. Spring is simple, easy-to-use, no-nonsense and the most affordable electric car by some distance. Brilliant commuter car. Brilliant second car. There’s nothing else like it.

“Dacia won our Value Car of the Year prize with the seven-seat Jogger last year and now Spring takes the award for 2023. They may as well keep the trophy.”

Will Dron, editor of Driving.co.uk, added: "With the high price of electric cars still one of the major reasons putting people off switching to electric cars, we need low cost models to enter the market. Of course, it is Dacia that is leading the way here, with the Spring being the most affordable electric vehicle in Europe. Yet British owners won't feel like they're missing out on features when it arrives over here next year. The Spring was the obvious choice for our judges in the Value Car of the Year category."

Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, said: “We are delighted to accept this award. As well as recognising how the Spring’s value has had a huge influence on democratising EV ownership throughout Europe, this award acknowledges how it is destined to mirror its success in the UK. In true Dacia style, the Spring will shake up the car market when it reaches these shores next year, continuing the brand’s evolution and now ensuring that a whole new audience of all-electric car buyers will benefit from Dacia’s unrivalled blend of robust quality and value.”

Following the incredible success of the Spring in other markets, Dacia confirmed that the game-changing all-electric city car will arrive in the UK in 2024 as an all-new version, boasting significant improvements in design and equipment.

Originally introduced in 2021, the five-door supermini has been bought by more than 120,000 customers since its launch. It also made a significant contribution to Dacia increasing its global sales in 2022 by 6.8% year-on-year against a highly challenging and receding market.

Even more impressive is that three quarters of all sales have been made to individual customers, with retail car buyers finding that the Spring’s simple, fun and efficient formula makes it the perfect companion for everyday travel. Often purchased as a household’s second car, Spring is the main means of transport during the week for 90% of multiple-vehicle households who own one.

Full details, including timings, pricing and specification, will be announced in 2024. Brits can register their interest, receiving all the latest information via www.dacia.co.uk/vehicles/spring
