Renault Retail Group: Championing Young Driver Safety with Pierre Gasly

At Renault, safety is at the heart of everything we do. Our "human first program" embodies this commitment, focusing on a 360-degree approach to protect drivers, passengers, and all road users – before, during, and after any incident. This program is built on four crucial pillars: prevention, correction, protection, and rescue.

In line with our dedication to prevention, we're launching a vital international awareness campaign specifically targeting young drivers about the critical risks associated with excessive speed. This initiative is especially important considering the concerning statistics: 52% of fatal accidents linked to speeding involve individuals under the age of 35 (1).

To amplify this crucial message, we've partnered with a powerful voice in the world of speed and precision: Pierre Gasly, a talented driver for the BWT Alpine Formula One® Team.

Pierre Gasly: A Coach for Safe Driving

In a compelling new film, Pierre Gasly takes on the role of a coach, guiding a young driver behind the wheel of a Renault Clio on the iconic Monaco Grand Prix circuit. Drawing on his extensive experience and understanding of speed within a controlled environment, Pierre shares invaluable advice and expertise. His message is clear and impactful: speed belongs on the track, not on public roads.

This global campaign was launched on April 6th, strategically coinciding with the excitement of the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix, with the first TV broadcast in France. To directly reach the 18-24 age group, the campaign is also being actively promoted across various social media platforms. Furthermore, a double-page spread will appear in the French press starting April 10th, further reinforcing this vital message.

The "Safety Car" Feature: A Practical Solution for Clio Drivers in France

In addition to this awareness campaign, Renault is also offering a tangible solution in France: the "safety car" feature for the Renault Clio. As a popular model, often the first car for many young drivers, the Clio is an ideal vehicle for this initiative. This innovative feature allows owners to limit the maximum speed of their Clio to 110 km/h (3) through a reversible speed-limiting device available at the Renault Network.

Once activated via a post-sale engine control unit configuration, the vehicle's speed setting, cruise control, and speed limiter will be capped at 110 km/h by default. While drivers can still engage these functions, they will not be able to exceed this speed limit. Importantly, this operation is fully reversible, allowing the vehicle to return to its original configuration with another visit to the Renault Network. For its launch in France, this service is available for just 59 euros for eligible Clio models (2). Pierre Gasly also serves as the ambassador for this practical safety initiative.

Renault: Putting "Human First" on the Road

This campaign and the "safety car" feature are powerful examples of Renault's "human first program" in action. We believe in taking proactive steps to prevent accidents and protect our communities. By raising awareness among young drivers and offering practical solutions, we aim to contribute to safer roads for everyone.

Stay tuned to Renault Retail Group for more updates on our safety initiatives and how we're working towards a future with fewer road accidents.
