New Renault Twingo E-Tech is Landing in Battersea

There aren’t many cars that can make people smile just by driving past, but the Renault Twingo has always been one of them. Since it first hit the streets in the early 90s, its "frog-eye" headlights and "little big car" personality turned it into a bit of a cult hero.

If you’ve been following the news, you’ll know a reimagined version is on the way, and we have some great news for those of you in the UK. The all-new Renault Twingo E-Tech electric prototype is officially making its first-ever UK appearance this February.

Retro Vibes, Modern Power

For anyone who grew up with the original, the new Twingo feels like a bit of a homecoming. Renault’s design team has leaned hard into that 1992 DNA, keeping the cheerful, "smiling" front end, but they’ve swapped the old petrol engine for a fully electric heart. It’s built on the new AmpR Small platform, meaning it’s designed specifically for city life. It’s small enough to nip through London traffic and easy to park, but Renault is also aiming for a price point that makes sense, targeting an entry price of under £20,000. In a world of oversized SUVs, it’s refreshing to see a car that’s proud to be compact.

What to look out for:

That Face: The The LED headlights are a modern nod to the classic circular lights we all remember.

The Details: Look for the three-vent motifs on the hood, another clever throwback to the original's cooling vents.

Urban Efficiency: It’s being designed as one of the most efficient EVs on the market, perfect for the daily commute.

A bit about Battersea

We didn’t want to just park the Twingo in a standard showroom. It’s making its debut at rnlt London Battersea, right on the Electric Boulevard.

If you haven't been yet, the rnlt store is a bit different. You can grab a coffee, browse the Originals Collection (the Twingo merch is a highlight), or even spend some time at the vinyl bar checking out curated LPs. It’s the perfect backdrop for a car that’s always been more about lifestyle than just transport.

Come and see it for yourself

The Twingo E-Tech will be on display from 7–15 February. Whether you’re a long-time Renault fan or just curious about what the next generation of city cars looks like, come down and take a look.

The prototype is only here for a short window, so it’s worth stopping by to see the design up close before the production models eventually hit the road.
