Renault Filante Revealed: A Bold New Global Flagship Leading Renault’s 2027 Strategy

Renault has officially pulled the curtain back on the Renault Filante, a striking new premium crossover that signals the brand’s ambitious return to the upper end of the market. Designed as a global flagship, Filante plays a central role in Renault’s 2027 International Game Plan, combining avant-garde design, cutting-edge technology, and a powerful new full-hybrid powertrain.

Launching first in South Korea in March 2026, Renault Filante will later roll out across South America and the Gulf States through early 2027, strengthening Renault’s footprint in key international markets.

A Name with Deep Renault Heritage

The name Filante is more than just a badge. It draws inspiration from Renault’s legendary Étoile Filante prototype, which set world speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1956. More recently, the name resurfaced with the Renault Filante Record 2025 electric concept, which achieved an impressive 1,008 km (626 miles) on a single charge under real-world conditions.

It also nods to Renault’s prestigious “Étoile” models of the 1930s, once reserved for the brand’s most luxurious vehicles, making the Filante a fitting symbol of Renault’s move upmarket.

Built in Korea, Designed for the World

Produced at Renault’s Busan plant in South Korea, the Filante showcases the technical expertise of Renault Korea while blending global design DNA with local market expectations. Positioned in the E segment, it complements Renault’s Korean lineup, where larger vehicles already account for over half of the market.

As Renault Korea CEO Nicolas Paris explains, Filante represents “the best of what Renault Group and Renault Korea can achieve together,” combining innovation, design, and industrial excellence.

Exterior Design: Where Saloon Elegance Meets SUV Presence

Renault Filante introduces a bold new design language, merging the sophistication of a saloon with the commanding stance of an SUV. Developed under the Aurora project, its sculpted bodywork and coupé-style rear profile give it a distinctive premium crossover silhouette.

Up front, Filante features a dramatic illuminated 3D grille inspired by the Renault diamond logo, paired with ultra-slim LED headlights and an unmistakable new light signature. In profile, flowing lines, chrome detailing, and 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels reinforce its premium appeal. At the rear, slim LED lights and a suspended spoiler create a wide, athletic stance.

Powertrain: Full Hybrid E-Tech 250 hp

Under the hood, Renault Filante introduces an upgraded full hybrid E-Tech 250 hp powertrain built on the CMA platform. It combines:

  • A 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine
  • Two electric motors
  • A DHT Pro automatic transmission

With a combined output of 250 hp and up to 565 Nm of torque, Filante delivers strong performance while achieving impressive efficiency. It can drive up to 75% of city journeys in electric mode, always starting silently on electric power.

Fuel consumption is reduced by up to 50% compared to a non-hybrid petrol vehicle, with CO₂ emissions of just 106 g/km.

A New Global Chapter for Renault

With its daring design, premium interior, advanced technology, and efficient hybrid performance, Renault Filante represents a major step forward in Renault’s global ambitions. As the brand works toward launching eight new international models by 2027, Filante stands out as a bold statement of intent, and a clear signal that Renault is serious about the premium segment once again.
