The judges at the renowned website were clearly impressed by the Renault 4 E-Tech electric's charismatic design – a modern take on an icon that manages to stand out from the crowd. They also lauded its impressive interior space, which defies its compact exterior, and its smart, user-friendly technology.
Paul Horrell, Consultant Editor of TopGear.com, perfectly captured the sentiment, stating: “The new Renault 4 is a smart little modern car in itself, recognisably different from the waves of generic looking stuff washing up in dealers all over the country. The Renault 4 E-Tech electric truly maximises its footprint. Thanks to its 2.62m wheelbase, rear passengers enjoy ample legroom, while the generous 420-litre boot, with its wide, high opening and low load sill, makes everyday tasks a breeze. Fold down the rear seats, and this versatile space expands to a massive 1,405 litres! Standard across the range is Renault's intuitive OpenR Link system, accessed via a vibrant 10.1-inch central touchscreen. And when it comes to charging, the 100 kW DC charger can replenish the battery from 15 to 80% in just 30 minutes.

But the celebrations didn't stop there! Adding to Renault's incredible hat-trick of trophies, the exhilarating Renault 5 Turbo 3E – our most powerful and advanced road car ever – was deservedly named the 'EV We’re Most Looking Forward To Driving In 2025'.
This modern, all-electric reboot of the legendary Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 from the 1980s has clearly captured the imagination. Jack Rix, Editor-in-Chief of TopGear.com, explained why: “Lunacy is what the Renault 5 Turbo has always been about. Its raison d’être stretching back to the 1980 original is to shock, amaze, be unruly and make little sense. This version is following the family business using ingredients from 2025, so naturally we’re chomping at the bit to have a go.”
With two rear-mounted in-wheel motors unleashing a staggering 540hp and 4,800Nm of torque, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E promises supercar performance in a compact package, hitting 0-62 mph in under 3.5 seconds. Production is strictly limited to just 1,980 individually numbered examples, a fitting tribute to the original's launch year.
