Electrifying Updates: Renault Captur and Symbioz Get Enhanced for 2026!

Here at Renault Retail Group, we're always excited to bring you the latest in automotive innovation, and the 2026 model year updates for our popular Captur and Symbioz SUVs are truly something to talk about! With enhanced powertrains, improved efficiency, and even more advanced safety features, these models are set to deliver an even better driving experience.

More Power, More Efficiency: The New Full Hybrid E-Tech 160

Both the Renault Captur and Symbioz now feature a more powerful full hybrid E-Tech 160 powertrain, replacing the previous 145hp engine. This isn't just about raw power; it's about smarter, smoother, and more sustainable performance.

Key enhancements include:

  • Larger 1.8-litre Petrol Engine: Delivering increased power and torque for improved drivability and quicker acceleration – hitting 62 mph over a second faster than before.
  • Higher Capacity 1.4 kWh Battery: Up from 1.26 kWh, this larger battery maximises opportunities for electric-only driving, ensuring a quieter, smoother ride, significant fuel savings, and reduced emissions. This EU7-compliant engine now emits just 97 g/km of CO2 and uses approximately 5% less fuel.
  • Enhanced Multi-Mode Transmission: Revisions to the intelligent multi-mode transmission mean smoother shifting and a new mode specifically designed for motorway use, reducing noise and improving responsiveness.
  • New e-shifter: This improves usability and is now standard across all trim levels.
  • Increased Towing Capacity: For those who need to tow, the new powertrain boosts capacity from 750kg to a robust 1,000kg.

Prices for the Captur full hybrid E-Tech 160 start from £25,195, while the Symbioz full hybrid E-Tech 160 begins at £29,795.

A New Entry for Symbioz: Mild Hybrid 140

For the 2026 model year, the Renault Symbioz also gains a new mild hybrid 140 petrol engine option. Available exclusively with the techno trim, this 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit features mild hybrid technology for excellent efficiency, achieving 47.9 mpg on the WLTP combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 133 g/km. This makes the mild hybrid 140 a highly competitive and accessible entry-level model for the Symbioz range, priced from just £27,395 OTR.

Advanced Safety Comes Standard in Captur

Renault's commitment to safety continues with a host of new advanced driver assistance systems becoming standard on the Captur:

  • All trim levels now include an electric parking brake with auto-hold.
  • Adaptive cruise control with speed limiter, which automatically maintains a safe following distance, is now standard from the mid-range techno trim upwards for all hybrid models.
  • The top-tier esprit Alpine trim goes even further, adding lane centring, occupant safe exit, blind spot recognition, rear detection with emergency lane-keeping assist, and rear cross traffic alert as standard. A new child locking function for the rear doors and windows is also included for extra peace of mind.
