From School Run to Secluded Shoreline: The Dacia Duster Conquers a Pioneering Expedition!

Here at Dacia Retail Group, we're always keen to show you how our vehicles excel in real-world conditions – from the daily commute to the most demanding adventures. We're thrilled to share the incredible story of the recent Celtic Dagger Expedition, a pioneering history-hunting adventure that took place on the rugged west coast of Scotland, supported by two Dacia Dusters!

Uncovering History, Supported by Dacia Duster

Between 17th and 24th May, an expert crew, led by renowned marine conservationist, broadcaster, and former Royal Marine, Monty Halls, embarked on a unique mission. Their goal? To search for World War II artefacts left behind during the build-up to secret operations that eventually liberated Europe. The team successfully found munitions, debris, and relics from the first amphibious training operations conducted by the Commandos and SOE (Special Operations Executive).

These historical remnants, scattered across land and seabed, are helping to build a comprehensive picture of the extensive preparations involved. The diving operations were particularly significant, marking the first time such searches have taken place in the very spots where amphibious landings were rehearsed from June 1940 onwards.

Duster's All-Terrain Prowess Put to the Test

To support this ambitious expedition, two Dacia Duster Extreme mild hybrid 130 4x4s were enlisted. These robust SUVs deftly tackled some of Scotland’s harshest terrain and hard-to-reach areas, proving more than a match for the remote Scottish coastline. The Duster’s class-leading 217mm ground clearance and enhanced all-terrain capabilities were crucial in navigating the challenging landscape.

The diverse expedition team, comprising a marine archaeologist, a Royal Engineer bomb disposal diver, two marine biologists, and a world-record-holding female powerboat racer, relied on the Dusters to transport their essential supplies and diving equipment to these remote locations.

Monty Halls' Seal of Approval

Monty Halls, known for conquering challenging conditions in his numerous expeditions, usually uses a Duster for the school run. This expedition, however, allowed him to put the Duster's capabilities to the ultimate test.

He commented: "Everyone who drove the Duster on- or off-road in Scotland was really impressed with its ability to go anywhere and take all our equipment wherever we needed it. The expeditions I lead require the best kit, and the Duster did not disappoint. On these projects we look for reliability above all other things, and these vehicles never let us down. They took everything we threw at them and then got us home in style.”

Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, added: "Instead of the typical 4x4 usually associated with this type of expedition, it’s great that Monty chose the Dacia Duster. It’s clear proof that it’s the perfect car for any adventure, near or far, and it doesn’t have to break the bank either.”

The Duster’s tough exterior design, famed value for money, and features like Hill Descent Control and a 4x4 Terrain Control system with five driving modes (Auto, Snow, Mud / Sand, 4x4 and Eco) make it the ultimate 'go anywhere' vehicle.

This expedition truly highlights the Dacia Duster's rugged capability and reliability, proving it's perfectly equipped for anything from the school run to a history-hunting adventure on Scotland's most secluded shorelines.
