Watt a Deal! Dacia Spring Powers Up a National Treasure in Kent!

Here at Dacia Retail Group, we know that practicality, versatility, and amazing value are at the heart of everything we do. But what if we told you our cars could also help you celebrate National Fish and Chip Day in style? Well, that's exactly what happened in the charming Kentish seaside town of Deal!

To mark National Fish and Chip Day (June 6th), Dacia teamed up with TikTok's very own Chip Shop Diva, Destiny Harold, for a truly unique event: a pop-up chippy on Deal's historic pier, serving up delicious free chips, all powered by the all electric Dacia Spring!

The Dacia Spring: Powering More Than Just Journeys

You might be wondering how an electric car can fry chips. The secret lies in the Dacia Spring's clever Vehicle to Load (V2L) technology. This innovative feature allows users to simply plug in and operate almost any mains powered household device directly from the car's battery. In this case, it was dual tabletop fryers, effortlessly cooking over 300 freebie cones of chips, and even a limited run of battered fish, much to the delight of passersby!

As Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, perfectly put it: “Cooking chips using the Vehicle to Load technology on the Dacia Spring is a fun way to show just how versatile our cars are. Where better to take the UK’s most affordable new electric car than to Deal? It’s a great fit!”

A British Seaside Tradition, Supercharged!

It's no surprise that a queue formed at this quintessential British seaside scene. Dacia's research shows that a whopping 66% of Brits love to treat themselves to fish and chips when on holiday, with almost half (46%) saying a holiday isn't complete without this delicacy. And the good news? Almost three quarters (71%) agree that fish and chips tastes better by the seaside!

This event truly brought together the nation's favourite seaside treat with an electric car designed to make electric mobility accessible for all.

The Dacia Spring: As "Cheap as Chips" and So Much More!

Beyond its surprising ability to power a pop up chippy, the Dacia Spring holds another impressive title: it’s the UK’s most affordable new electric car, available from only £14,995. Often described as "cheap as chips," the Spring genuinely offers more than customers would expect at its price point, making electric driving a real possibility for many.

As Food Psychologist James Cornish notes, fish and chips is "more than a meal – it’s a national treasure". In the same vein, the Dacia Spring is proving itself to be more than just a car; it's a versatile, accessible, and surprisingly capable partner for life's everyday adventures and even the most unique celebrations!
