Here at Dacia Retail Group, we're incredibly proud to announce that Dacia, the car brand with an undeniable outdoor spirit, is supporting and funding record-breaking UK mountaineer, Akke Rahman, as he embarks on his most formidable challenge yet: conquering K2!
Known ominously as ‘the savage mountain’, K2 stands at 8,611m and is widely considered even more challenging than Mount Everest (8,849m) due to its treacherous steep slopes, frequent avalanches, and notoriously unpredictable weather conditions.
This expedition demands immense physical fitness and mental resilience from Akke, as he navigates thousands of metres of technical rock and ice, battling the risks posed by extreme altitude.
Akke’s journey to becoming a record-breaking mountaineer is truly inspiring. He only discovered his passion for climbing a mere six years ago after completing a long-talked-about ascent of Mount Snowdon (1,085m) with a friend. Since that first climb, he has rapidly scaled up his ambitions, conquering renowned peaks such as Mont Blanc (4,810m) and Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m), both incredibly achieved within just 7 days. In 2020, he famously summited Mount Elbrus (5,642m) in less than 24 hours.
Most notably, in 2022, Akke made history by becoming the first British Muslim to summit Mount Everest (8,849m) – an astonishing feat made even more impressive by the fact he spent the majority of his 21-day expedition fasting for Ramadan. He even went on to summit Everest again in 2024!
Akke's incredible motivation stems from a desire to inspire his children and encourage others, regardless of their background or experience, to embrace the outdoors. Throughout his mountaineering career, he has also raised over £1 million for charity.
Akke is a proud member of the Dacia Adventure Community, a diverse group of individuals who embody Dacia's love for adventure and the outdoors. This community brings together real people taking on real challenges, from marine biologists and broadcasters to car campers, weekend hikers, and sunset chasers.
Akke Rahman shared his gratitude: “When I discovered climbing, I knew I wanted to keep challenging myself by summiting more and more mountains. I am very grateful to Dacia for helping me to achieve my next dream of conquering one of the world’s toughest, K2. For the first time in my mountaineering career, I feel part of something special, and I’m proud to be part of the Dacia Adventure Community.”

Akke will now acclimatise in the region before beginning his challenging ascent, with the aim of reaching the summit of K2 before the end of the month. We'll be following his incredible journey closely and wish him the very best of luck!
