Renault Group Crowned “Best Car Company” at the 2025/2026 Best Cars of the Year Awards

Renault Group has outshone every other global car manufacturer to be named the ‘Best Car Company’ in the 2025/2026 Best Cars of the Year / New Car World Championships.
The prestigious recognition celebrates Renault Group’s exceptional performance across design, innovation, and customer value, and underlines the momentum of its four dynamic brands: Renault, Dacia, Alpine, and Mobilize. This year’s results mark a milestone moment for the Group, which took home not one, but four major awards, a clean sweep that few manufacturers in history have achieved.

A Historic Win for Renault Group

In what judges described as an unprecedented achievement, Renault Group captured top honours across multiple categories:

Best Car Company – Renault Group

Best Car of the Year / New Car World Champion 2025/2026 – Renault 4 E-Tech Electric

Best Electric Car – Renault 4 E-Tech Electric

Best Value Car – Dacia Bigster

These wins follow the Group’s remarkable performance in last year’s competition, when the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric was named Best Car of the Year and the Dacia Spring earned Best Value Car. Together, these back-to-back victories highlight a consistent trajectory of innovation, design excellence, and customer trust across all Renault Group brands.

Praise from the Experts

The Best Cars of the Year judging panel, comprised of world-renowned automotive experts, praised Renault Group’s remarkable ability to deliver excellence across every aspect of vehicle development, from concept to customer experience.

The 2025/2026 panel featured high-profile industry figures such as Mike Rutherford (Founder and Chair of the Awards), Dr Andy Palmer (former Aston Martin CEO and EV pioneer), Ray Massey (Daily Mail motoring journalist), and Shiro Nakamura (legendary car designer).

“At the annual New Car World Championships, it is unprecedented for one multi-brand manufacturer to collect four major awards,”the panel said.“Renault Group has been in top form of late and continues to get its designs, showroom products, quality, and retail prices spot-on.”

The judges went on to praise the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric as “superior to and more desirable than many of its more expensive EV rivals,” while describing the Dacia Bigster as “an absolute bargain for families and others seeking a large, flexible, fuel-efficient SUV with real presence.”

Their comments reflect not only the technical and aesthetic appeal of Renault Group’s vehicles but also the brand’s commitment to value, sustainability, and accessibility, principles that continue to set the Group apart in a rapidly evolving industry.

Leadership That Inspires Progress

Reacting to the awards, François Provost, CEO of Renault Group, expressed pride and gratitude for the recognition, crediting the achievement to the dedication and vision of the Group’s people:

“It is a great honour to receive these awards, which give us all the motivation to keep pushing to set new standards now and in the future. Being named Best Car Company is especially meaningful because it recognises the success of all four of our brands, as well as the dedication of our teams, suppliers, retailers, and customers. I’m thrilled that the judges have once again acknowledged that we are making exceptional cars across our portfolio.”

Provost’s comments underline Renault Group’s holistic approach to success, one that integrates cutting-edge innovation with sustainable manufacturing, responsible business practices, and a strong global community of customers and partners.

Renault: Powering a New Era of Electric Mobility

A pioneer of electric mobility in Europe, Renault continues to lead the transition to sustainable transport through its “two-pronged” strategy, offering customers both advanced hybrid and pure electric powertrains.

Building on the success of the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, the brand has introduced the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric, which has now been named both Best Car and Best Electric Car of the Year. The model embodies Renault’s next chapter: expressive, practical, and innovative.

Renault’s expanding line-up also includes the Symbioz SUV, designed for versatility and family comfort, and the Rafale hybrid flagship, which brings premium refinement and performance together in a bold new design direction.

Each of these vehicles represents Renault’s ongoing commitment to making advanced technology accessible, ensuring that innovation benefits everyone, not just a select few.

Dacia: The Benchmark for Value and Reliability

Dacia’s continued success in the Best Cars of the Year awards underscores its reputation for rugged reliability, simplicity, and unbeatable value.

Following the Dacia Spring’s triumph in 2024/2025, the brand has once again taken home the Best Value Car title, this time with the all-new Dacia Bigster.

Combining generous interior space, a robust design, and a practical feature set, the Bigster proves that affordability doesn’t mean compromise. It’s a vehicle designed for modern families, outdoor adventurers, and value-conscious drivers alike, perfectly aligned with Dacia’s “essential and cool” philosophy.

Alpine and Mobilize: Driving the Future

While Renault and Dacia dominate the headlines, Alpine and Mobilize continue to strengthen Renault Group’s vision for the future.

Alpine remains the Group’s performance icon, blending motorsport heritage with innovation. Building on the legendary A110, Alpine is now expanding its range with the award-winning A290 and the upcoming A390 SUV coupé, proof that the spirit of lightweight agility and precision engineering thrives in the electrified era.

Mobilize, meanwhile, represents Renault Group’s forward-thinking commitment to shared, connected, and sustainable urban mobility. The brand collaborates with cities, businesses, and individuals to create smarter, cleaner transport ecosystems, reimagining how mobility fits into the modern world.

A Reflection of Global Excellence

The Best Cars of the Year organisation is an independent, not-for-profit awards body that celebrates automotive excellence on a truly international scale. Its judging process combines expert evaluation with public input, making it one of the most credible and inclusive awards initiatives in the automotive world.

Renault Group’s historic haul of four major titles in a single year is a rare and remarkable feat, one that speaks to the Group’s enduring impact, technological leadership, and unwavering commitment to its customers.

Setting the Standard for Tomorrow

From accessible EVs to high-performance icons, and from value-driven SUVs to shared mobility solutions, Renault Group continues to redefine what’s possible in the automotive landscape.

The 2025/2026 Best Cars of the Year Awards are more than just trophies, they’re a testament to a company in motion: innovative, inclusive, and determined to build a better future for mobility.
