The Renault Retail Group’s “Cymru to Calais” All-Electric Challenge is on!

The Sales Team at Renault Retail Group Swansea pride themselves on always staying up to date with their product knowledge in order to provide our customers with a comprehensive description of any one of our award-winning range of Renault and Dacia electric, petrol and diesel vehicles. 

One Renault vehicle in particular – the 100% Electric Renault Zoe – has been a prominent favourite in the European electric vehicle (EV) market for almost 10 years, bringing zero-emissions motoring within the reach of everyone.  These multi award-winning EVs have shown just how easy it is to transition from regular ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles to electric and with an impressive range of up to 245 miles on a single charge, courtesy of its mighty 52kWh battery, drivers can be charge confident in the 100% Electric Renault Zoe on every journey. 

With this in mind, Darren Bowen, the Dealer Principal of Renault Retail Group in Swansea, decided to set a challenge for two members of his New Car Sales Team to learn even more about the 100% Electric Renault Zoe beyond the classroom – by taking a road trip all the way from Renault Retail Group’s dealership in Swansea to visit our French counterparts at Renault in Calais, France. 

Craig Randall (Senior Sales Executive) and Chris Marland (Sales Executive) are the two intrepid travellers who will be putting a 100% Electric Renault Zoe Van through its paces on a round journey of around 400 miles – traffic permitting - all the way from Swansea to Calais and back. 

They will be setting off from Swansea in the early hours of this Friday, 22nd October, charging down the motorway via Reading, where they will take a short pit-stop to recharge both their own and the Zoe’s batteries, before heading onwards to Dover, to take the mid-day ferry across to Calais.  In the spirit of entente cordiale, our Welsh drivers will be taking some typically Celtic gifts – including Welsh cakes and a locally-produced Pinot Noir wine - to introduce our Gallic colleagues to the irresistible tastes of Wales.

Darren commented:  “Nothing beats real-life experience to learn every aspect of a vehicle, which is why I have challenged our team to show everyone what this great little car can do.  In my experience, everyone who has driven a 100% Electric Renault Zoe has been surprised how easy it is to make the move to electric which, after all, is a very different style of driving, but one which we will see more and more as we move towards a sustainable future.“

Craig said:  “We’re really looking forward to tackling this challenge, in spite of the extra hoops we have to go through as a result of the pandemic.  Luckily, the 100% Electric Renault Zoe is fully equipped with R-Link, which is a really intuitive tool, allowing us to plan the route, factor in any potential road closures and alternative routes if required, as well as showing our range and where the nearest charging stations are along the way.”

Chris added: “All of our customers love the 100% Electric Renault Zoe, which is why Renault Retail Group recently switched all their courtesy cars in their dealerships across England and Wales to a fleet of 100% Electric Zoe E-Tech models.  Upgrading its courtesy car fleet means that Renault Retail Group’s customers across the network can now experience the advantages of everyday electric driving in the Zoe’s comfortable and spacious interior.”

  • 2 metre floor markings in all our dealerships to help you keep a safe distance from others
  • All our colleagues will wear a face mask / face covering and we have protective screens at all workstations
  • Hand sanitiser are readily available for all customers and colleagues to use. Upon arrival at the dealership, we kindly request that you sanitise your hands thoroughly
  • All desks, workstations and card payment machines are regularly cleaned and sanitised
  • We respectably request that everyone visiting our premises will be required to wear face masks and coverings to protect the safety of our staff and customers.
